Elephants are playful creatures. They chase butterflies and douse themselves in mud. Did you know they have incredible memories? They cry and love and dote on their babies.

Our design method follows that of the whimsical elephant. As the daughter of a textile chemist and an expert seamstress, Lauren has grown up around fabric and color her whole life. It’s what she does to chase butterflies.

So don’t worry any longer about that navy hue. With The Whimsical Elephant we chase those metaphorical aphids so you have more time for mud baths.

Lauren Laughlin spent her formative years a pearl-wearing Midwesterner, raised by New Englanders and nurtured by the cornfields. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a masters in business journalism from New York University. Following, and in the meantime, she spent years wandering the desert as an investment banker, teacher, and nationally-recognized columnist. But her true passion is helping friends find peace in a well-appointed home.
